About

I am a Child and Adolescent Psychotherapist and Play Therapist working in private practice in Celbridge, Co Kildare. I hold a B.A. and M.A. in Psychology from U.C.D., a Masters in Humanistic & Integrative Psychotherapy and a Diploma in Play Therapy from the Children’s Therapy Centre in Westmeath. I am a member of The Irish Association of Play Therapists & Psychotherapists and adhere to the Ethical Principles and Code of Good Practice set out by the I.A.P.T.P

As a parent, psychotherapist and educator I have learned much over the years about parenting and family life. I designed and facilitated my own parenting programme called Building Blocks 25 years ago. Since then I have worked in a variety of settings including managing a family support service, designing and facilitating courses and workshops in Child Psychology, Stress Management and Parenting and in private practice as a Psychotherapist.

As a young adult I was drawn to study Psychology because I wanted to understand human behaviour. This curiousity about human behaviour stemmed from my own experience of childhood trauma. My university life was extremely stressful and I experienced extreme anxiety in those years. In my 20’s I was diagnosed with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. Nevertheless I persisted in my quest to understand human nature and my own early trauma. Becoming a parent opened up a whole new world. My knowledge of Psychology helped me to see how early attachment, trauma and family dynamics influences us strongly in our parenting and our relationships with our children.

Over the years I continued my work and studies. My biggest teachers were and are my children. I love the work I do with children and parents and those working with and caring for children. I have learned through my own life experience, and my professional work and study that there is more to parenting than theories and techniques.

Now I want to make my knowledge and experience available to parents, carers, childcare professionals and families. Anyone caring and/or working with children need to have additional knowledge and support that they can access in a safe, non judgemental and accessible space.

“Connecting with parents and children is my passion.”
